Health Qigong (HQ) is a wonderful Chinese system of exercise based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and also modern sport science and research. The set being learned is one of ten forms created by the Chinese Health Qigong Association (CHQA). Angela is an instructor member of the British Health Qigong Association (BHQA) and a senior instructor with Deyin Taijiquan Institute.
From September we will be learning Ba Duan Jin. A great set for beginners to HQ. We will start with some warm up exercises and over the weeks will learn each move in detail so that at the end of the academic year you will know the routine well enough to try it yourself at home. There are many health benefits to be gained from following this routine and these will be touched upon as we move through the set.
You can register for the class at any point during the term. Please be assured you can still get a lot from the class at whatever point you join. For each of the HQ routines there are books/DVDs which can be bought to aid with self practice should you wish to do that. These can be bought from Tai Chi Link.
The second hour of this session is dedicated to Tai Chi and in particular the popular Yang Style 24 step sometimes referred to as the simplified form. Experience of Tai Chi is not essential. We learn each move one at a time so if you start part way through it is still possible with time and practice to learn the previous moves as well. To aid you with that I have a video library facility on my website that is a useful resource for your own practice. A small monthly fee applies.
For the year 2025/26 we will be working in six-week blocks and holiday dates will be published on the website and notified in class as well. A new payment system has also been introduced, and the cost of the six-week block is £42 if doing one hour per week or £84 if doing the two hour session. Either amount is payable up front. This will be paid via bank transfer. All details will be sent to you via email after submitting the registration form.
