Angela’s Tai Chi School

My name is Angela Howarth and I started teaching Tai Chi in 2002 with the Liverpool Adult Learning Service. I started my own Tai Chi journey in an adult education class about seven years before this and then moved on to join the YMAA who I trained with in Liverpool and Chester.

In 2008 I was introduced to Master Faye Li Yip of the Deyin Taijiquan Institute. I studied the Taiji Kungfu fan routine with Faye and qualified as an instructor in this form in November 2009.

Just prior to doing this I was picked to take part in Antony Gormley’s One and Other project and I appeared on the 4th plinth on 10th October 2009. It was a fabulous experience. See some of the pictures in the photo gallery. Click here to watch my hour.

In 2010 I started the level 1 instructor course with Master Tary Yip (Deyin Taijiquan Institute) and completed and passed in February 2011. A couple of months later I competed in the British Tai Chi Open Championship in Oxford and won two bronze medals. Since then I have also competed in the London Competition twice and have won two golds, two silvers and a bronze medals.

I am now a level four instructor with the Deyin Institute and a level three instructor with the British Health Qigong Association. In June 2019 I also gained my Duan 3 Diploma in Health Qigong.  I hold regular weekly classes, both in person and online, and Saturday workshops at various times throughout the year.

In 2022 I celebrated 20 years as a Tai Chi teacher and Angela’s Tai Chi School celebrated it’s 10th anniversary.  I am very proud of ATCS and all that myself and the students have achieved over these years.  We have lots of happy memories and will continue to make many more.  Thank you to everyone who has been involved in whatever way in making all of this so successful.
