Event Overview
A therapeutic garden, two dedicated Health Qigong instructors, and a group of 30 enthusiastic participants created the perfect setting for World Health Qigong Day. This annual event, held on the second Saturday in September, features a new theme each year; for 2025, the motto was “Health Qigong for a Happy Life.” Despite the challenging weather, the event concluded with plenty of smiling faces and happy people.
Activities and Workshops
The day began with Barbara leading a series of warm-up exercises, followed by Angela guiding participants through HQ Ba Duan Jin. Two engaging workshops took place afterward: Angela introduced various bird movements found in different Health Qigong forms, and Barbara led a session focused on Taiji Stick Qigong.
Venue and Community Impact
This year’s event was held in the enchanting Sudley walled gardens—a space developed by Lucy Dossor of Growing Sudley CIC. The project encompasses the Changing Rooms, an area where therapists offer a range of treatments.
The walled garden serves as a valuable community resource, aiming to foster health, wellbeing, and play through the connection with nature, plants, and herbs. More details about this inspiring project are available on the Growing Sudley website (www.growingsudley.com).
