Our latest fundraising event for the Swan Women’s Centre took place on the streets of Southport. Chapel Street and Lord Street to be exact. As it was the end of term we decided to use our newly developed skills to wow the people of Southport and encourage them to part with their cash for this local worthwhile charity.
Twenty of us met at the station while it was still raining but once we started performing the rain stopped and remained stopped until we left Southport on the train. We were very lucky.
All groups were represented. They each performed the routine(s) they had learned since September. They did themselves proud and all were applauded for their efforts. There was a real buzz among everyone and it was also great for them to watch other classes performing too. On Lord Street we even had some audience participation.
The day was finished off with a well earned cuppa and cake at The Atkinson cafe. We raised £96.31 during the two hours and further donations can be made on our localgiving webpage
