Monday 11am-12pm – 8 and 24 Step Tai Chi

Angela is a senior instructor with Deyin Taijiquan Institute.  Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) is an internal Chinese martial art studied and performed across the world by many people for their health and well-being.  One of the most popular Tai Chi forms is the Yang style 24 step created by Li Tianji, uncle of Professor Li Deyin.  This routine is therefore taught from the original source and writings of this lineage. In 1999 two shorter standardised forms were created from the 24 step – Yang style 8 step and Yang style 16 step.

This hour is suitable for beginners to Tai Chi as well as established practitioners.  Newcomers will learn the Yang style 8 step routine first before progressing onto the 24 step form.  If you have 24 step experience you may be able to join straight into that form.

We learn each move one at a time so if you start part way through it is still possible with time and practice to learn the previous moves as well.  To aid you with that I have a video library facility on my website that is a useful resource for your own practice.  A small monthly fee applies.

For the year 2026/27 we will be working in six-week blocks and holiday dates will be published on the website and notified in class as well.  A new payment system has also been introduced, and the cost of the six-week block is £42 if doing one hour per week.  Payment is payable up front.  This will be paid via bank transfer.  All details will be sent to you via email after submitting the registration form.
