On the 9th February the Deyin Institute held their first boot camp of 2019 to coincide with the Chinese New Year – the year of the pig.
As usual there was a full programme of activities which offered a Tai Chi and Qigong feast for all participants. Instructors from the Deyin Institute delivered the sessions and Master Tary did a pushing hands workshop prior to lunch.
There was a fabulous turnout of participants, both “old timers” and newbies. There is always an excellent atmosphere at the boot camps and despite how it sounds, the day is filled with plenty of laughter, friendship and genuine Tai Chi spirit.
Following on from the boot camp we had an evening celebration in nearby Oakengate as a guest of the council. The mayor was in attendance and even joined in with the lion dance which started proceedings. We were to enjoy many performances including Chinese dance, singing and of course Tai Chi. All was finished off with an incredible performance by Masters Faye and Tary Yip.
After that we all tucked into some delicious Chinese food washed down ably with some Prosecco. We all slept well after a full day of training and an evening of entertainment.
Photos from both events can be viewed in the gallery.
Wishing you all a happy year of the pig.
