Christmas 2025

This year for our Christmas get together it was decided to have a Christmas lunch at Blackburne House Bistro. Prior to that there was the option to enjoy a guided tour of Liverpool Cathedral. We were to be treated to the tour by Blue Badge guide Harriet Gilmour. Harriet has done many a tour for us and each one has been amazing. This one was no exception.

Eighteen of us gathered outside the cathedral by the crib where Harriet started the history of the largest cathedral in the UK. The weather was very kind. No wind or rain to hamper proceedings and we were all soon learning “little” facts about our great city as well as the cathedral itself. As we are in the season of Advent we had additional items to look at and hear about; the various cribs, the large wreath on the door, the advent wreath before the altar which all made for a festive tour.

I think it’s fair to say we had all visited the cathedral (some even work there) but we all learned and saw many things we would not have been aware of if we were just wandering on our own. It is an awesome cathedral made even more awesome by Harriet’s incredible knowledge and the way she presents that.
The tour lasted ninety minutes and after a mooch round the shop we all headed to Blackburne House Bistro for an excellent Christmas meal and friendly service with plenty of chatter between friends from our own classes and beyond. A great day was had by all and hopefully the photographs convey some of the festive cheer we all enjoyed on our Christmas event 2025.
