Coffee Morning Event
This year, we are proud to support Claire House as our chosen charity. We launched our fundraising campaign with a coffee morning held during the half-term break at our Aigburth hall. The event saw a fantastic turnout, with students, their friends, and families joining us for the occasion.
Claire House Presentation
Georgina from Claire House attended the coffee morning and delivered an insightful talk about the charity’s work and the people it helps. She also shared the exciting news that their Liverpool site has recently received approval to become a hospice, allowing them to expand their services beyond the facilities already established on the Wirral.
Stalls and Donations
As is tradition, the event featured a variety of stalls. Class members generously donated new and unused items, most of which were sold on the day. Any remaining items were passed on to Claire House, so they may use them in their own fundraising initiatives, ensuring all contributions help raise valuable funds.
Raffle and Prizes
The raffle was a highlight, boasting prizes from local businesses. Our thanks go to Windmill on Aigburth Road for their splendid hamper, which showcased the shop’s range of goods. Pet Aqua, also on Aigburth Road, donated two dog coats—one for winter and one for summer. Liverpool Everyman contributed two theatre tickets for a performance of “A Memory of Water” and other prizes.
Additional Activities
The bottle tombola was well stocked, thanks to numerous bottle donations. Pre-loved Tai Chi clothing was also available for purchase. In the children’s corner, young attendees enjoyed colouring Chinese New Year pictures and playing with Play Doh, activities that proved popular with adults as well.
Tai Chi Demonstrations
Tai Chi demonstrations included Ba Duan Jin and Taiji Kungfu fan. While the latter was deemed too noisy by the younger visitors, everyone had the opportunity to participate in horse-themed Tai Chi moves, celebrating the imminent start of the Year of the Horse.
Refreshments
The refreshments hatch was bustling throughout the morning, with a selection of delicious cakes enjoyed at the event and taken home for later.
Fundraising Success
The coffee morning was a resounding success, raising a magnificent £1,000. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who contributed to making the event possible, and Claire House extends their gratitude for achieving such an outstanding total. Further donations can be made via our JustGiving page.
Ongoing Fundraising
We will continue to organise fundraising activities for Claire House throughout the year, with further events to be announced in due course.
