Charity Afternoon Tea Party

As a continuation of our celebrations of the ATCS 10th anniversary we held our charity afternoon tea party on the 18th April on a beautiful sunny spring day. As well as celebrating the anniversary we were raising more funds for Dementia UK. I am thrilled to announce that we raised £1,114.50 making our fundraising total for the charity exceed £3,000.

It was a pleasure to welcome Lucinda from Dementia UK who gave us a talk about the charity and the work of the Admiral Nurses that provide such a vital support to families of those suffering with dementia. I have some leaflets from her so if anyone would like any of them then please contact me.

There were over sixty people in attendance and they enjoyed a variety of delicious sandwiches and cakes while enjoying a good catch up with old and new friends. A raffle and table sale helped to boost the funds and everyone went home with smiles on their faces. Thank you so much for coming and making this event such a success. There was plenty of lovely feedback. A small selection of the email messages are below:

“It was good to catch up with people in the flesh and the food was magnificent so thank you”
“Thank you to you and all your helpers, for a lovely afternoon”
“What a wonderful result. A lot of work. Thank you for such an enjoyable time. It was interesting also to have the rep. from Dementia UK at the tea party.”

The final words must go to the volunteers who made this happen. A wonderful team who set up the room the night before; the Dream team who kept the teapots filled and worked tirelessly to keep the food flowing to the tables; to Ian (my husband) who worked away in the kitchen plating up the food and to everyone who helped with the clearing away. That was quite some task. A special thank you to Chris who singlehandedly sourced scones, bunting and anything else she could get her hands on to help make this afternoon tea as special as possible.
