My name is Angela Howarth and I started teaching Tai Chi in 2002 with the Liverpool Adult Learning Service. I started my own Tai Chi journey in an adult education class about seven years before this and then moved on to join the YMAA who I trained with in Liverpool and Chester.

In 2008 I was introduced to Master Faye Li Yip of the Deyin Taijiquan Institute. I studied the Taiji Kungfu fan routine with Faye and qualified as an instructor in this form in November 2009.
Just prior to doing this I was picked to take part in Antony Gormley's One and Other project and I appeared on the 4th plinth on 10th October 2009. It was a fabulous experience. See some of the pictures in the photo gallery. Click here to watch my hour.

In 2010 I started the level 1 instructor course with Master Tary Yip (Deyin Taijiquan Institute) and completed and passed in February 2011. A couple of months later I competed in the British Tai Chi Open Championship in Oxford and won two bronze medals.  Since then I have also competed in the London Competition twice and have won two golds, two silvers and a bronze medals.

I have recently achieved level two instructor status with the Deyin Institute (Sept 2016).

I am an Advanced Instructor member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain and I have regular weekly classes.
